“At a time when Russia’s war in Ukraine is disrupting the peace in Europe, it is even more important for allies to stand together,” an official told Anadolu Agency.

“We call on Greece and Turkey to resolve their differences in the Aegean through diplomatic means and in the spirit of alliance solidarity,” a NATO official told Anadolu Agency after Turkey’s claims that Greek F-16s attempted to intercept a NATO flight over the Aegean.

“We call on Greece and Turkey to resolve their differences in the Aegean through diplomatic channels and in a spirit of allied solidarity. NATO has established a de-confliction mechanism through which Turkey and Greece will work to reduce the risk of incidents in the Eastern Mediterranean. At a time when Russia’s war in Ukraine is disrupting peace in Europe, it is even more important for allies to stand together,” the NATO official told Anadolu, according to correspondent of SKAI in Istanbul, Manoli Kostidi.

At the same time, he emphasized that Turkey and Greece are valuable allies, and reminded that the two countries cooperate daily in NATO and their forces participate together in NATO exercises.
