Parts of Antonio Panzeri’s apology to the Belgian authorities about Qatargate, La Repubblica publishes today.
The Italian former MEP – who is considered the “mastermind” of the corruption scandal, in which Eva Caili and her partner Francesco Giorgi are also involved – has “given”… evidence and names, because he wants to make a deal to fall into the “soft “, according to the newspaper.
Panzeri allegedly provided information on MEPs Francesco Cozzolino from the Democratic Party, Socialist MEP Marc Tarabella, whom he said “visited Qatar”, and Maria Arena, whom he said “I know she went to Qatar once and he got gifts.”
Also, in his apology, he seems to confirm the role of the Moroccan ambassador to Poland, Abderrahim Atmoun, as the connecting link between the secret services of his country and the Italian politicians involved in the scandal.
