revelation: Panzeri and Giorgi had ‘suspicious links’ with Morocco since 2013

Two revealing documents show the two men’s close relationship as early as 2013

The close relations maintained since 2013 by the former MEP, Pier Antonio Pancheri and Eva Caili’s partner, Francesco Giorgi, were revealed in the SKAI news report.

Specifically, in the revealing report, the two men had “suspicious relations” with the Moroccan government since 2013.

In particular, their relationship emerges from secret classified documents that were stolen and made public in 2015 in a case that became known as “Morocco Leaks”.

One of these documents is dated January 2013 and appears to have been sent by Morocco’s diplomatic representative to the EU to his country’s foreign minister. The document announces Morocco’s decision to create a lobbying office in order to increase its influence in the EU. In fact, in the document in question, Pancheri is described as a very good friend of Greece.

At the same time, in June of the same year, a second document shows that Pier Antonio Panzeri and Francesco Giorgi traveled to Morocco where they met with Abdelrahim Atmoun, the current Moroccan ambassador to Poland. This particular man was described by Giorgi in his apology as the man who transported the “gifts” from Morocco to the protagonists of Qatargate. The two men’s visit to Morocco at the time concerned a disputed region in Western Sahara which is administered by Morocco but which has been condemned for human rights violations.

The result of these contacts was that in the next EU human rights report there would be no negative reference against Morocco for human rights violations. In fact, until today, Morocco has managed to bypass a decision of the European Court of Justice for the specific region of the Sahara.
