The explosive mixture made up by Tayyip Erdoğan’s bigotry, as well as his internal problems combined with the Turkish polls that will be held in 2023, Ankara is trying to “export”, with the first “target” being Athens, which however insists to refuse to follow the rhetorical absurdity and competition with its neighbor from the east and insists firmly oriented on the rails of international law alone.

Tayyip Erdoğan took the baton of threats himself, once again targeting Greece and threatening it with an attack with the Turkish “Typhoon” missiles, while the “instead” of the Turkish president, Ibrahim Kalin, had preceded him, defiantly and falsely claiming that the Greece has no right to extend its territorial waters to the 12 nautical miles south and west of Crete and threatening retaliation in case our country exercises its inalienable sovereign right.

“Effort in vain” commented a government official, having excellent knowledge of international law and the tactics of Turkey, which attempts to present Greece as the “bad boy” of the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, which illegalizes and acts as a riot.

“The guardians have knowledge,” he added, referring to Greece’s partners and allies, who, with the diplomatic struggle that Greece gave, is giving and will give, have a complete picture of Turkish provocation and the distortion of reality that it attempts.

“The logic of the Turkish-Libyan memorandum does not pass,” comments the ND MP and internationalist Tasos Hatzivasiliou, and Turkey sees this and intensifies its irritation and annoyance.

“They see that the Greek side has concluded a legal demarcation with Egypt, which neutralizes the effects of the illegal Turkey-Libya memorandum, when they see that the Greek government is proceeding with hydrocarbon exploration in Crete, which is right not only for Greece but for Europe as a whole as an option, then they are disturbed by the “surprises” of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and because they don’t want any more such “surprises” the new absurd discussion about the alleged expansion of the casus belli’s limits is now starting,” said Mr. Hatzivasileiou, interpreting the new Turkish crescendo of questioning, at the same time talking about a ridiculous position, beyond all logic.

At the same time, Athens’ message to its neighbor remains firm and non-negotiable: “Greece is neither threatened nor terrorized,” our country declares, insisting firmly on international law and unyielding to our national interests.

“Greece governs with self-confidence, our country is a strong country that seeks stability but is unyielding in its sovereign rights and national sovereignty, it is a country that is neither threatened, nor terrorized nor differentiated in any issue, much more in sovereign her rights” clarified the government representative.
