Sia Anagnostopoulou emphasizes that the government “should also inform all the parties of the Parliament for reasons of transparency, accountability and obligation towards the national goal”

SYRIZA-PS will request the immediate convening of the Committee on Educational Affairs, for the question of the claim and return of the Virgin Sculptures, notes in her statement the head of the Culture Department of the party, Sia Anagnostopoulou, underlining that “we, unlike the government, we do not operate behind the scenes, nor anti-institutionally.”

Anagnostopoulou Co emphasizes that the Commission “owes the government to inform, for reasons of transparency, accountability and obligation towards the national goal, all the parties of the Parliament, of the manipulations and actions it has taken to date on the major issue of claiming and returning the Sculptures of Parthenon”.

Mrs. Anagnostopoulou notes that “it was not the Official Opposition that revealed that in the case of the Parthenon Sculptures the government followed the path of secret consultations of the Prime Minister and leading ministers, with George Osborne, president of the British Museum, but the exclusive article in 3/12 of Mr. Andritsopoulos in “NEWS”. He states that “the article was never officially denied, just as the scenario of establishing a branch of the British Museum in Athens with the Sculptures(!) that followed a little later was not denied either.” He adds that “since then and while with a barrage of publications in Bloomberg, Telegraph, Guardian, etc. are described in a vague way, points of an agreement that refers to extremely dangerous solutions for the interests of the country, the Ministry of the Interior keeps a fishy silence and only appeared yesterday with an announcement to react only to the objections of the official opposition”.
