To obstruct the investigation carried out by ADAE regarding the case of surveillance, PASOK speaks in its announcement, commenting on the opinion of the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Mr. Doyaku.
In more detail, the PASOK announcement states:
“With today’s opinion, the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court is obstructing the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Commission, which, as an independent constitutional authority, must carry out its work in an integral manner.
Primarily, however, it reveals the true purpose of the recent government legislation, as a legislative intervention not in favor of uncovering the truth and strengthening institutions as advertised, but in favor of obfuscating the surveillance scandal and ex post facto “legitimization” of government abuses.
The Government of New Democracy bears heavy responsibility for the blow to the institutions and the Rule of Law, confirming every day what an excellent imitator of the SYRIZA-ANEL government it was.
P. C. As revealed by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the Greek diplomatic authorities in Bangladesh had been officially informed about the “training” trip of senior officials of the Asian country on the Predator’s surveillance systems in Athens. It was not our intention to overshadow the festive atmosphere for the assumption of duties as deputy general manager of New Democracy by Yiannis Smyrlis, who as c. c. of the State Department had allegedly opened the door to the export of the Predator to illiberal regimes in Africa, but we must ask: Was the sworn administrative review that was ordered completed?”
