PASOK: The Government wants legislation, freedoms and the rule of law à la carte

by

PASOK issued a statement-response to the government representative Yiannis Oikonomou. As Dimitris Manzos states in his statement, the government wants “à la carte legislation, à la carte freedoms, à la carte rule of law”.

In more detail, the statement of his representative PASOK:

“The Government dismisses the President of PASOK-Movement of Change for the institutional criticism he makes of the wiretapping scandal.

It is the same Government that wanted à la carte legislation, à la carte freedoms, à la carte rule of law.

It is the Government, which proposed, and the ND which alone passed an unconstitutional law, which restricts rights, obscures the truth and undermines the competences of the Human Rights Council.

The only truth is that the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, giving an opinion on the question of a private person, without authority and without any commitment, is trying to obstruct the operation of a constitutionally protected authority.

Criticizing the actions of state bodies is not only a right but also our high democratic duty. And no one can forbid us.

It seems that party interest prevails for New Democracy.

Are the Laws of the New Republic above the Constitution?

Are government schemes above Independent Authorities?

Is, in the end, the New Democracy above the rule of law, human rights and Democracy?’
