The political thermometer is in the red

The prime minister has no reason to open his papers even if the beginning of April is the scenario that he really favors.

The political scene has caught fire without her being known yet the date of the election.

The prime minister has no reason to open his papers even if the beginning of April it’s the script that actually qualifies.

In the already troubled environment, the death of the former king was an event that Kyriakos Mitsotakis was asked to manage with an eye on the political impact it has.

An exercise in political balance towards a center-right audience knowing that political developments are close at hand. Given that the institution of the monarchy has been decided by the Greek people, Maximos chose not to enter into a barren confrontation with the opposition with which he has, after all, a lot to separate.

The opinion of Isidoros Dogiakos has already caused a lot of reactions and in SYRIZA they constantly present the reaction of the professors of Constitutional Law, among them Mr. Venizelos, Alivizatos, Kontiadis, Sotirelis, etc. who talk about “mistakes in which the opinion falls”.

Depending on the progress of the investigations that ADAE has already reportedly started on the providers, SYRIZA is preparing a series of initiatives in order to highlight the case of wiretapping even as the first topic on the current affairs agenda.

From Maximos, they remain on the line that the opinion of Mr. Dogiakos is a judicial decision and as such must be respected.

They remind, in fact, that no one from the government has visited the Supreme Court for information and “suggestions” as former SYRIZA ministers had done. “Justice is not a la carte“, they emphasize.

The pre-election period favors “political storms” with Koumoundourou preparing to bring the issue to the Parliament as well. He submitted a request to the Institutions and Transparency Committee for the President of the Authority, Christos Rammos, to appear before it.

They believe that the 2/5 required in votes will be found, and as in previous cases the opposition will agree.

However, it is estimated that the request of the KKE for the convening of the Committee on the occasion of the wiretapping of its telephone center will be preceded.

It is recalled that once a month the Rules of the House allow the minority to request the convening of the Committee. Another process in Parliament has been much debated and could be a cause for conflict. It concerns the appointment of new members of the ADAE by the Conference of Presidents.

A 3/5 majority is required to replace the three whose terms have expired, so no movement is expected in the near future.

In high tones, Yannis Oikonomou, during the briefing of the political editors, stated regarding the reactions to the opinion of Doiakos that “the Government does not dictate the views and the role, neither of the Judiciary, nor of the Independent Authorities. It does not politicize and even more so it does not partisan their role.

Others are those who politicize the function, approaching the Independent Authorities very recently.

The same ones who many times in the past had characterized the Independent Authorities as “scumbags” and publicly claimed that they should return to political control.

Today, by approaching, I repeat, closely some Independent Authorities, they are trying to convince us that they are fighting for their Independence”.

Circles from the government camp would like the legal “bra de fer” that has begun to end with a direct consultation of the institutions and not with a confrontation that ends nowhere.

The rift between New Democracy and PASOK deepened even more on the occasion of the specific issue and the attack launched on the government by Nikos Androulakis.

Developments will determine whether there will be a more coordinated opposition front in the near future, as both accuracy and drug shortages are the “flammable political material” that parliamentary parties opposite the government are keen to exploit.

Alexis Tsipras has already submitted a question to the prime minister about drug shortages.

Next step for political forces?

The announcement of the ballots. And everything shows that the “oversupply” that exists, as well as the final answers that the parties expect from specific persons they wish to approach, have pushed the announcements a little further back.
