The president of Cyprus is visiting Great Britain Nikos Anastasiadiswho Monday will meet with him King Charles at Balmoral.
Mr. Anastasiadis will inform Karolos about developments in the Cyprus issue, as well as Turkey’s challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean. The bilateral relations between Cyprus and the United Kingdom will also be on the agenda of the meeting.
Climate change is also expected to be discussed, as well as the consequences of the energy crisis due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The meeting will take place at the castle Balmoral in Scotland at 10:30am UK time. It is the 1st meeting of President Anastasiades with King Charles III, after his proclamation as King of Great Britain last September, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
It is recalled that last Wednesday, January 11, Nicos Anastasiades received at the Presidential Palace Princess Anna, who made a visit to Cyprus, in order to inspect the British delegation in UNFICYP.
Tomorrow evening the President of the Republic will attend a Gala Dinner on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus during which President Anastasiades will be honored by the United Kingdom Cypriot Federation and the Cross-Party Group for Cyprus in the British Parliament.
The event was planned twice in the past but was postponed due to the pandemic and the death of Queen Elizabeth.
The event will be attended by a representative of the British Government and members of the British Parliament. It is expected to highlight the significant contribution of Cypriot expatriates to the strengthening of bilateral relations between Cyprus and the United Kingdom as well as to the promotion of our national issue.
