The parties have taken the calendars in front of them and are erasing or ticking dates. March 26 seems to be ruled out since the Prime Minister has never brought up the first month of Spring. The first Sunday of April is estimated to be too early, as the dissolution of the Parliament should take place almost at the beginning of March. Therefore, the signal can be given by the opposition that Kyriakos Mitsotakis has finally led the country to early elections.

The date which is qualified again is the 9th of April which is Palm Sunday. The scenario, according to the polls so far, predicts that since it is very difficult to form a government from the first ballot box, exploratory contacts will begin during the Holy Week, reaching and possibly surpassing the Resurrection.

It is possible that in such an eventuality a disturbance with the Church would be caused, without, however, any discontent being expressed from its ranks. All these data put down executives in the party headquarters and are looking to find where the “trap” is or what the prime minister is hiding.

If the polls are held later, i.e. after Easter, there are many who believe that Kyriakos Mitsotakis has no reason not to go until May. Increases in pensions, the minimum wage, the abolition of the public solidarity levy, the market pass, the good tourist climate and the investment grade will give another wind to the government.

In this case it will have been a year since he was tipped to go for early elections last May when the gap with SYRIZA was in double digits, precision and the energy crisis from the war in Ukraine was just knocking on its door of Greece and the country had come out of a terrifying pandemic wave.

The prime minister, speaking at the joint meeting of the Executive Secretariat and the New Democracy Secretariat, added another piece to the puzzle of when he will appeal to the popular verdict. “We are now entering the final stretch, it is an open secret that the clock is ticking backwards, I have said it publicly, I say it privately to you too – it is not a secret – the elections will be held, either in April or in May, the first elections .

The second ones will take place 4 to 5 weeks later, so I think you can understand that we are working with a very strict schedule,” he said, turning on the party’s election machines at full blast.

It is recalled that 41 days elapsed between the elections of May 2012 and June 2012. The investigative orders obtained by the first three parties are valid for three days. Of course, any leader who wishes can return the mandate to form a government to the President of the Republic as ineffective even on the same day.

The Prime Minister at the meeting added: “Let us have no doubt that the result of the first elections is the one that will ultimately determine the developments and we want to have a result so strong that our ability to achieve self-reliance in the second ballot box. That’s the goal.”

Given that the majority of the 151 in the enhanced analog is placed around 37.5%, a good result for the blue faction, which would bring it closer to the goal is anything moving above 33%. It is certain that Kyriakos Mitsotakis will contest the second election with the dilemma of non-governance dominating, and therefore in Piraeus they estimate that the rallying of the party and the security provided by the power that wins will be the pole of attraction for achieving self-reliance.

This is the reason, after all, that Alexis Tsipras wants to win “even one vote” in the simple proportional and with this reasoning they are working in Koumoundourou. Yesterday, the Political Planning under Alexis Tsipras met, while the SYRIZA president once again had meetings with Rania Svigou, Michalis Kalogirou and George Vassiliadis in order to close the issue of ballots in the following days.
