The Minister of Education pointed out that evaluation means improving the teachers, the educational process, the work provided, for the benefit of the children.
“After 41 years, the start of the evaluation, in a horizontal way, of our teachers” said the Minister of Education Niki Kerameossupporting the amendment he tabled at bill of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
He called on the parties “to take a stand if they ultimately want our country to harmonize with what is happening internationally”, pointing out that “the evaluation has a purely improvement character” to make “our teachers better” and “our children will still get more supplies.”
Mrs. Kerameos pointed out that evaluation means improving the teachers, the educational process, the work provided, for the benefit of the children.
He reminded that the evaluation, as established by the government, has three levels. At the first level is the evaluation of the school, at the second level is the evaluation of the educational system and at the third level is the individual evaluation of the teachers.
The first two evaluations have been done, as the school evaluation started last school year and continues this year, as well as the evaluation of the educational system. Now, in accordance with the government’s commitments and our planning, we are immediately proceeding with the individual evaluation of teachers, as we had promised, said the minister.
Mrs. Kerameos pointed out that those who are called to evaluate the teachers are education consultants by field who have also been judged and evaluated.
SYRIZA Member of Parliament Haris Mamoulakis noticed that the ND government is in a hurry due to elections to appoint education advisors when there is no synchronization with the quality assessors.
The minister replied that the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis will produce government work until the last day of its term. We accede according to the mandate of the Greek citizens. The assessment was a fundamental pillar of this government and that is why the relevant law has been passed a long time ago. Now we come and apply the third level of assessment.
