THE Turkey must receive the strong message sent by today’s meeting of the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos with the 27 ambassadors of the member countries of the European Union, linked to the Schengen Treaty, Britain and Switzerland, said the minister, immediately after the completion of their joint visit to the part of the fence located on the border of the Ebro, in Poros ton Feren.
“Today’s meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union states, as well as with Great Britain and Switzerland, has been crowned with success and sends a very strong message of solidarity in Europe, unity and determination to protect and guard the borders of Greece with Turkey which are also the borders of the European Union with Turkey.
This message is strong, it is a message of application of International Law and I believe that Turkey should receive it”, said Mr. Theodorikakos.
The Minister of Civil Protection walked along the fence and greeted the men of the force tasked with guarding the border.
Then the General Regional Police Director of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Lt. General Paschalis Syritoudis informed the minister and the ambassadors about the course of construction of the fence along the Evros border.
