“In 2019, the armoring of the Armed Forces was a commitment and today it is an action with tangible results, timetables and perspective. And we go on”. This is pointed out, among others, by the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, in a post on his personal Facebook account.
The occasion was today’s receipt, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, of the 5th upgraded fighter F-16 Viper and the inauguration of Lockheed Martin-built SSI (Security Supply and Information) facilities in ODA.
“The program to upgrade the F-16s to the Viper version by the ODA is now one of the flagship programs of the Armed Forces, since the ‘vipers’ are consistently, accurately and efficiently delivered to the Fighter Wings of the Air Force. It completes the schedule for receiving the 24 new Rafale fighter jets while it is the ‘bridge’ for our participation in the 5th generation F-35 fighter program,” the Minister of National Defense further comments in his post.
