“The motion of no confidence we are discussing is subject to the next election battle. And everyone is responsible,” stressed Mrs. Papariga
The former general secretary of the KKE characterized the confrontation between the ND and SYRIZA over the wiretapping as sham Aleka Paparigaintervening in the discussion of the motion of no confidence in the government submitted by SYRIZA.
He characteristically stated that “one brings out the other’s scandals. You are 1-1”! and he added that with regard to the monitoring of the KKE call center, “there is a complete and conscious choice of silence”.
The motion of no confidence that we are discussing, remarked Mrs. Papariga, “is subject to the next election battle. And everyone is responsible.” She expressed her fear that against the case of his surveillance KKE “there is, at least, tolerance.” He emphasized that “this discussion has no meaning”. Regarding whether or not it will affect the political scene, he said “I don’t know, we can’t make such predictions, however it is usable” and asked “what the people should understand is that the battlefield for them is in places of work and in society”.
Mrs. Papariga stated that “the wiretapping scandal is clearly a big scandal, we are not asking for it” but wondered why “for six years, when there is evidence of the monitoring of the KKE’s central telephone center, this is not a democratic diversion, as Mr. Tsipras now characterizes the wiretapping and not those that took place since 2016 under his own government.”
I think, said the former general secretary of the KKE, that “for some parties or for some MPs, it is tolerable and legitimate to monitor the KKE, as long as we don’t monitor each other”!
Its governments ND and SYRIZA, Ms. Papariga said, “not only did they do nothing to investigate where the monitoring of the KKE call center came from, but you didn’t even report it.” He pointed out that “since yesterday, the ND, because it wants to hit SYRIZA, has once or twice reminded that the KKE has been monitoring the SYRIZA government, but forgetting that it has also been done on the ND”. On the other hand, “the SYRIZA conversation” and wondered “why such a differentiation?” Is it not out of cunning? Don’t we and the Greek people have the right to draw conclusions?”
Mrs. Papariga mentioned that in the Institutions and Transparency Committee, SYRIZA co-signed the request to complete the 2/5 that KtB wants to be able to convene the Committee on the issue of Perissos connections but SYRIZA on the occasion of the summons or not of Mr. Rammos left and there was no discussion.
The former general secretary of the KKE noticed that 2/3 of the EYP data that have been made public are officials of the government and the ND and asked the prime minister “how is it possible that such data, which are registered as confidential and concern named officials, come out through the EYP? What is the purpose of this dissemination of such documents? How did these figures come out? Did the well-known journalist enter the EYP at night and take these documents? No! Was there any robbery? No. These were given. Because this is real evidence, tapes.”
The KKE, he said, has always been a victim of surveillance and we have the right to think that in EYP there are intertwined enclaves sometimes with economic and also with political interests that serve or serve various scenarios.
He noted that there is no EU member state for which scandals have not been reported. These are scandals, which come out organized by competing business groups and always in connection with political actors. Scandals, he said, are used for reshuffles and the consolidation of political systems.
Mrs. Papariga underlined that “the real problems are outside the Parliament, they are in the workplaces, in the countryside where today the farmers go out with their tractors on the road”. He noted that “the workers, in order to make a decision to participate in a strike, lose sleep from the evening and it is not only because they will lose their daily wages but because they risk losing their jobs as well” and added that “for the KKE, these are the battles of battles”.
