Changes in government: The new Secretaries General and Special Secretaries – Who are leaving (LIST)

The Deputy Minister, in addition to the Prime Minister and government representative, Giannis Oikonomou, recently announced changes in the Government and in the positions of General Secretaries.

According to government sources, the promoted changes emphasize the promotion of government priorities, especially those related to work, forest protection, and monitoring international trends in public policy-making.

Also some of the changes are made because now General Secretaries have expressed the desire to govern. The persons who are placed, as it appears from their CVs, have the experience and the technocratic competence and the professional path to fulfill their role.

Specifically in the positions of General and Special Secretaries of the Government, the following changes are made:

-General Secretariat for Anti-Crime Policy: Konstantinos Papathanassiou replaces Sofia Nikolaou

-General Secretariat for Tourism Policy and Development: Olympia Anastassopoulou replaces Viki Loizou

-General Secretariat for Communication and Information: Dimitris Galamatis replaces Giannis Mastrogeorgiou

-General Secretariat for Tax Policy and Public Property: Emmanuel Mastromanolis replaces Athena Kalyva

-General Secretariat of Public Health: Irini Agapidaki in place of Panagiotis Prezerakos

-General Secretariat for Natural Environment and Water: Petros Varelidis replaces Konstantinos Aravosis

– General Secretariat of Forests (new): Konstantinos Arabosis

-General Secretariat of Labor Relations (subset of the existing Secretary General of Labor): Anna Stratinaki

-General Secretariat for Employment Enhancement (subset of the existing Secretary General of Labor): Eleni Gioti

-Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors: Iraklis Moskov in place of Irini Agapidaki

-Special Secretariat for Private Debt Management: Marialena Athanasopoulou replaces Fotis Kourmousis

Special Secretariat for Perspective Investigation (new): Giannis Mastrogeorgiou

Special Secretariat for Financial Controls (new): Panagiotis Alexopoulos

The Special Secretariat for the Integrated Information System for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Government Project is integrated in the General Secretariat for the Coordination of the Government.

According to government sources, with the structural change of the Secretariats at the Ministry of Labor, emphasis is placed on strengthening employment and making better use of the resources of the Recovery Fund for this purpose in cooperation with OAED. At the same time, the changes are aimed at the most effective protection of work in the new working environment that is created, due to technological developments.

The creation of an upgraded Secretary General of Forests with the transfer of responsibilities from Decentralized to the Central Administration shows the increased interest of the Government for the protection of forests and the environment.

The creation of a Special Secretariat for Perspective Investigation in the G.G. of the Government, in close cooperation with the Secretary General of the Prime Minister Grigoris Demitriadis will contribute to the closer monitoring of international trends and the formulation of corresponding policies in the long run.

The change in the Ministry of Health serves the planning of the new public health policies and specifically the new NSS with emphasis on Primary Care. To date, the Secretary General of Public Health, Panagiotis Prezerakos, as well as the Secretary General of Private Debt Management, Fotis Kourmousis, remain at the disposal of the government for their use in other public positions.

The G.G. Anti-Crime Policy Sofia Nikolaou, Tax Policy and Public Property Athena Kalyva and the Secretary General of Tourism Policy and Development, Vicky Loizou are replaced in order to govern, as they have expressed the desire.

With the completion of its main mission, which was the technical development and installation of TOGETHER, the information system that monitors the implementation of the government project, the responsibilities of the Special Secretariat together with the information system are now permanently transferred to the Coordination Secretary. Special Secretary Panagiotis Alexopoulos assumes a staff position at the General Accounting Office of the State in financial audits.
