Tsavousoglou’s new challenge: Greece violates the conditions on the islands

Open blackmail of Mevlut Cavusoglu for Finland – Sweden

Open blackmail of him Mevlut Cavusoglu, who “sticks his tongue out at NATO”. As reported by SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis, the Turkish Foreign Minister more or less threatened that either Sweden and Finland will join NATO on Ankara’s terms, or they won’t, even if there is a risk of being attacked by Russia!

Reporter’s Question: Let’s say if you knew that Russia was going to attack Sweden or Finland in the next few weeks, and you were the only one who knew, would you accept them into NATO?

Cavusoglu: Any challenge or threat, whatever it is, our position is clear. As long as they implement this tripartite agreement, our view will be positive. However, without implementing these, whatever the situation, our position is extremely rigid. As I said at the beginning, of course, our security concerns also need to be considered. Not only (the concerns) of them.

Mevlut Cavusoglu insisted on Ankara’s defiant stance on the islands. “So when Greece e.g. violates the demilitarized status of the islands, this is a clear violation of the Treaty of Lausanne of 1923 as well as the Treaty of Paris of 1947. I am sending a letter to the UN that it is a clear violation of the treaties,” he said, recalling the provocative Turkish letter of October.

New attack in Sweden: “Don’t try unfairly”

Meanwhile, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan launched a fresh attack on Sweden, sticking to his uncompromising stance on its NATO membership.

“We are closely monitoring the developments regarding the expansion of NATO…. Sweden! Don’t try too hard. As long as you allow my holy book the Koran to be burned, torn up and this happening under your protection, we will not say yes to your joining NATO.”

He made it clear that Ankara now separates the question of Stockholm’s accession to NATO from that of Helsinki. “On the subject of Finland, our opinion is positive, but on Sweden it is negative. Know that,” he explained.
