Vangelis Simos, head of the People’s Rally of Petroupoli and candidate for deputy of the D. Sector of Attica, emphasized that “the issue that should form a voting criterion is what a municipal authority is doing to highlight the causes of the problems that plague the people, what takes initiatives to seek the solution of these problems. If he takes the lead in organizing the people’s struggle and supports their demands and struggle.”

Angeliki Kosmopoulou, secretary of the Parents’ Union of Petroupoli, referred to the deficiencies in school infrastructure and the gaps in teachers in the schools.

Thomas Kotsabas, representative of the Board of Directors of the Petroupoli Gymnastics Association, noted the continuous degradation of sports by schools.

Roula Papadopoulou highlighted the inequality at the expense of women of the popular strata and the decimated public health system that also suffers the people of Petroupoli.

Chrysanthos Kyriazis, president of the OTA Association of D. Petroupoli, highlighted the blow that the labor rights of workers in OTAs have received.

Stella Karabi, representative of the “Eu Zin philotechnein” Association, highlighted the lack of recognition and support of such groups, which seek to highlight the contemporary form of folk art, from the state and municipalities.

Panagiotis Routsis, treasurer of the Petroupoli Ikariotes Association, referred to the almost non-existent support of the associations’ action for the preservation of cultural traditions.

Iraklis Pakos, a student and champion in the climbing competition, highlighted the degradation of the public school and the bleeding of parents so that their children could study.

D. Koutsoumbas, in his intervention, stated that “the residents of Petropolis are affected, like all the Greek people, by the anti-popular policy of the government, the accuracy that eats up the people’s income, in food items, energy, fuel. They are suffering the effects of Greece’s involvement in the war in Ukraine, which all bourgeois parties support.”

“The policies that have been followed have blackened the dreams, the expectations, the very needs of the people and especially the youth, even though they have fed us with the narrative of the great capitalist development that crushes wages, crushes pensions, the social rights of young people , which intensifies exploitation and oppression, which turns Health, Education, Medicine into expensive commodities, especially today with the huge shortages due to their competition, which puts a barrier in the education of our young people” he added.

He said that in the “apron” of capitalist development, all other parties are being “slaughtered” for who will best serve its goals “which are essentially the interests of the few. And in these goals is included this state, the reactionary bourgeois state on which all governments have put their stamp.

“And with a recent budget that puts taxes of 50 billion which is 2 billion more taxes for the people compared to last year. The people will be burdened again, at the same time that they are giving a gift of 14 billion to some monopolistic groups. At the same time, we have a complete absence of the state in all sectors, in all popular needs, and this is particularly visible here in Western Athens,” he added.

Speaking about the Phylis Landfill, he emphasized, among other things, that “the Party Organizations of Petroupoli of the KKE have firmly at the center of their initiatives the demand for the removal of the landfill, the protection of the environment, the upgrading of the standard of living.”.

He pointed out that the anti-popular policy of all governments “must be a criterion for our attitude towards the struggles, the movement and our political choices. Now we have to say “enough is enough, we and our children want to live humanly”.

“And only the KKE says this ‘it’s getting this far’, which comes forward with all its strength, without counting efforts and sacrifices. To multiply the foci of resistance. To mark a new competitive start. To strengthen hope, optimism and perspective because we can succeed” he underlined.

“The call of the KKE is addressed to everyone, regardless of what choices they made until yesterday, even today, what parties they voted for, to participate in the movement, the organization and the action that will put up obstacles, will claim and maybe have some conquests, precisely because he will not stumble into the trap of an alleged political rotation, support or tolerance of a bourgeois government within the framework of the rotten, corrupt system we live in.

We are fighting so that the people do not fall again into the trap of the supposedly lesser evil, which every time turns out to be a worse and greater evil.

We ask the workers, our people, the youth, to look ahead. To aim for radical changes and upheavals, that is, those that the people and the country need, and that will reach up to the change of class in power. Until the working class takes the lead, takes power, the people are sovereign” said D. Koutsoubas.

“Today there is the possibility, due to development and technology, the great productive potential of the economy, Greece itself, but also the development of science, labor productivity, to satisfy modern needs in housing, education, health, culture, sports” said D. Koutsoubas and added?

“However, the condition is that the profitability of capital, i.e. of the few, is not a criterion for the development of the economy, but the needs of the many, of our people, on the ground of a truly workers’, people’s government, what we call workers’ power, people’s power, as everyone calls it, which will have social ownership of both the land and the means of production, with central scientific planning and working people’s control” he said and presented the main axes of the KKE program.

As he said, this program “expresses the interests of the workers. And it proves it every day with the action of its members against energy poverty and precision, for substantial and effective measures to relieve the majority of the people.”

“In front of the other political forces that are looking for new saviors and political messiahs, the KKE clearly says that such do not exist, that only the people can save the people, on the road to conflict, overthrow, with a much stronger KKE, everywhere” concluded the General Secretary of the KE of the KKE in his intervention.
