The re-opening of the Police Cadet School in Grevena was announced by Minister of Citizen Protection Mr. Takis Theodorikakos during his visit to Grevena.

The Minister of Citizen Protection emphasized that the School building will be restored immediately, so that it can operate from the new academic year, hosting 200 Probationary Police Officers.

Mr. Theodorikakos visited the facilities of the School that had initially operated in 1990 and suspended its operation in 2012 due to the memorandums and then the new, modern building of the Grevena Police Department.

After the visit, Mr. Theodorikakos stated:

“I am visiting Grevena as part of a visit by the Government echelon led by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who will present together with the entire echelon of Ministers the Government’s development plan for the Region of Western Macedonia.

Here in Grevena, the object of special interest is the new building of the Police Department of Grevena, an enviable building, which will house the police services in one of the safest prefectures of our country and the news is that I have already signed the reopening of the School of Police.

An act, very meaningful and with a lot of symbolism if you allow me. This School was closed in 2012, as part of Greece’s memorial obligations in a very difficult time for our country.

Today, Greece is in a phase of recovery and development despite the great crises and trials that exist in the whole of humanity and is confidently moving forward.

The time has come, then, when a very important number of the 850 policemen of the next year will be accommodated here. Specifically, 200 police officers will be accommodated here in the area.

Perhaps it is significant that this School opened when the late Konstantinos Mitsotakis was Prime Minister and reopens today, during the Prime Ministership of his son, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

It is a special pleasure and honor for me to serve as the Minister of Citizen Protection and to come to Grevena to bring you this good news.

We have close cooperation as a Ministry and as the Greek Police with the Region, the Regional Governor, the Deputy Regional Governor. I want to thank them for this cooperation as well as the Municipality. I think that in Grevena there is unity of all and support for the work of our Police for the benefit of all citizens”.

The Minister of Citizen Protection was accompanied by the Deputy Regional Governor, Thanasis Folinas, the Mayor, Giorgos Dastamanis, the Inspector General of the Police of Northern Greece, Lieutenant General Georgios Douvalis and the Police Director of Grevena, Konstantinos Dinas.
