The Coordinating Assembly of the Occupation of the Drama School of the National Theater gave a negative response to SYRIZA’s proposal for a meeting with the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras.

The members of the Coordinating Committee emphasize in their post on Facebook that meetings with the opposition parties have already taken place and since there is no new proposal that would provide an immediate solution to the fulfillment of the requests, there is no reason for a meeting.

The coordination post:

“Today we accepted a proposal from SYRIZA to meet tomorrow with the leader of the party and former prime minister of the country, Alexis Tsipras. For our part, we asked if there is any specific proposal from SYRIZA that could provide an immediate solution to the fulfillment of our requests, and they answered that it is only a discussion at this stage.

Our response was negative, because we have already met with representatives of the opposition parties that voted against the amendment (KKE-Mera25-PASOK-SYRIZA) and we have forwarded our requests. These meetings took place on Friday, February 3 at the Parliament in the presence of representatives from the Occupy of KSOT and the Occupy of DIPETHE Patras.

There is no reason for a new meeting with any of the said parties unless they can show us some specific written proposal of law which will make it clear that the vocational categories of TE and PE correspond to the degrees of the Higher Art Schools and the Higher Public and Free Greek Universities based on the current provisions of Article 16 of the Constitution.

In other words, if there is any new data from the parties with such a law proposal, then we are open to the possibility of meetings with the political leaders. But now it doesn’t exist.

Finally, we declare that possible meetings of students at an institutional level, either with the government or with the opposition, need to take place in the presence of representatives from the occupied higher art schools as well as from private schools participating in the occupations.

With the above, we want to make it clear here and there that we will not allow anyone to dictate our cinematic struggles, nor of course will we become a boon in anyone’s election campaign. We are fighting for our self-evident rights and our dignity, so any sophistry about our incitement falls fatally on deaf ears.

We treat the above parties as elected representatives of the parliament by the voters and not as our political allies.

The Coordinating Assembly of the Occupation of the Drama School of the National Theatre”.
