The Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned the relations between Greece and Turkey, as they were formed after the tragedy of the earthquakes in the neighboring country Nikos Dendiasin the interview he gave to the main SKAI news bulletin and to Sia Kosionis.

Mr. Dendias confirmed the reduction of tension between the two countries, as well as the reduction of Turkish provocation in the Aegean.

He also emphasized that the main concern of Greek diplomacy is the preservation of the good climate, as it is now easier to restart the discussions between the two countries.

Initially, the foreign minister referred to his visit Anthony Blinken in Greece and the conclusions reached by Athens from the contacts with the head of American diplomacy.

“I would have preferred the visit to take place without a fever (p.s. Mr. Dendias was suffering from a virus during those days). It was an excellent visit. The US has publicly and privately expressed its recognition of Greece’s role. Greece is a stable pillar of peace and justice and the right of the sea”.

When asked about the next day of Greek-Turkish relations and the messages that Mr. Blinken has received, the Greek Foreign Minister said:

“No need. I had talked to him Mevlut Cavusoglu. The US was very positive about the possibility of resuming talks, but that’s about it. Do not think that the American side went into details. There was no such thing.”

In response to a question about whether the talks with Turkey will start again, Mr. Dendias said:

“The aid we gave is unrelated to foreign policy. We do not ask for exchanges. The climate is different. There is a re-approach of societies and it is easier to restart discussions. We are on the eve of the elections. To preserve the good climate that exists. Turkish delinquency in the Aegean was drastically reduced. The climate allows the resumption of discussions and we want to maintain it”.

“I don’t want to scratch wounds for the past that hurt us. We have a clear understanding of things. To preserve the good atmosphere”the foreign minister added.

To a question about the expectations that exist for the next day of Greek-Turkish relations, Mr. Dendias answered:

“I believe that differences can be resolved. I believe that on this basis, a mutually beneficial solution can be found”.

Regarding the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO and Ankara’s “veto”, the Greek Foreign Minister said:

“It’s absolutely positive. Turkey must ratify the accession of the two countries. Wrong to leave out Sweden and Finland”.

When asked if there are now concerns about a hot episode, Mr. Dendias said:

“I never thought that Turkey would attempt anything. I was afraid of the random. It dramatically reduces, if not completely eliminates, the probability”.

For Ukrainian he said:

“It is a tragic war for a year, a completely useless war, a barbaric invasion of an independent country. It is not at all easy to resolve the war. Here there is black and white, right and wrong, as we say about international law and we apply the same for Ukraine. We have no choice. We will continue to support her.”
