The decision of the special court
Earlier, former minister Nikos Pappas was unanimously found guilty by the Special Court for his manipulations in the tender process for the television licenses.
The decision was announced by the President of the Court, Ioanna Klapa.
Also, businessman Christos Kalogritsas was also unanimously found guiltywho was tried as an accomplice of the former minister on the charge of dereliction of duty.
In Christos Kalogritsa, the court recognized the favorable measures foreseen, as mentioned by the president.
Under current law, the maximum penalty is two years in prison.
The decision is irrevocable and cannot be appealed.
Deputy prosecutor Dimitris Asprogerakas is present at the trial, as the regular prosecutor of the trial Olga Smyrli he was a patient.
Mr. Asprogerakas proposed a prison sentence of one year for former minister Nikos Pappa and six months for businessman Christos Kalogritsa.
“I am not nor do I feel guilty” declared Nikos Pappas through his lawyers.

Earlier, former minister Nikos Pappas through his advocates stated that he will not plead for mitigation, because he does not feel guilty.
“The defense of Nikos Pappas does not request recognition of extenuating circumstances. And this, because the submission of the request means an indirect recognition of the legal and substantive correctness of the conviction and subsequently of the guilt of the applicant for mitigation. Nikos Pappas is not and does not feel guilty of a breach of duty, but on the contrary, he firmly believes that he did his duty in full for the benefit of the Greek State and the citizens’ freedom of information”.
Christos Kalogritsas asked for the mitigating factors of life in common, non-humble reasons and recognition of his assistance in the case.
