On Friday, March 3, he will propose the minimum wage to the cabinet, as the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs pointed out this morning Kostis Hatzidakis.

Speaking to ERT, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs emphasized that he is awaiting the recommendation of the scientific committee and will then make the recommendation to the cabinet.

According to the website ertnews.gr, Mr. Hatzidakis said: “One must see the productivity. We have to balance in this decision between the possibilities of the businesses”, but also referring to the increased needs of the employees, due to inflation. “One must take these into account and come to a fair decision that will nevertheless lead to a significant increase.”

“This is also a given for social reasons because we see the difficulty faced by those who are paid the minimum wage, but also for political reasons because we do not want to give away the monopoly of social sensitivity to the Left,” he noted.

Referring to the pensions, Mr. Hatzidakis underlined that they are now paid out over a period of two months, while an aid of 100 euros is also provided for each month of waiting for the issuance of pensions.

Regarding the housing problem, which is especially acute in urban centers, he emphasized that 1000 apartments will be given to the most vulnerable. These are the apartments that were given to immigrants. He further mentioned how the new pairs will be strengthened with a lower interest rate which will be at 1/4 of the existing interest rate.
