“It has been a tragic accident that has caused pain and suffering across the country. I want to sympathize with the people who lost their loved ones because they are not going to recover from what has happened. It is a demand of all that the responsibilities are fully attributed. And this time, the Greek people see it, it is happening at a very high speed. It is an absolute commitment and we owe it to society to know exactly what happened and to whom the responsibilities belong. The responsibilities should be attributed and the punishments should be given to those who have caused this pain. It is a commitment of the government, it is a commitment of the Justice and it is being implemented”, the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, told SKAI and the program “Kalimera” with George Autias.

Referring to the talks that were made public, Mr. Theodorikakos emphasized that “personal responsibility cannot be replaced by anyone. It is not possible for someone to have undertaken a specific project and be absent from his work. These are unacceptable and unprecedented things. This is not the rule of the Greek state.”

“The judiciary is conducting an investigation at a very fast pace and it will bring results. The Greek Police, in everything it has been asked to assist in this investigation, implements it with absolute and efficient speed in order to bring everything to light”, he added.

Mr. Theodorikakos once again thanked the police as – as he said – “they went above and beyond and worked so that the people who had lost their lives were identified within 48 hours and their relatives were not tested further”.

He also noted, “those who have committed these acts will take the path of Justice and suffer the consequences. This tragedy can be dealt with in two main directions, which are being implemented: To learn the truth and to assign responsibilities everywhere.”

“We have signed a contract of truth with the Greek people and we rely on a relationship of honesty and trust. This applies not only to the good days but also to the difficult ones and we must implement it and make it a reality”, he added.
