Alexis Tsipras was found in Larissa – He visited the remote control center of the city’s railway station
The President of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance, Alexis Tsipras, was found today in Larissawhere together with train drivers and station masters he visited the remote control center of the city’s railway station.
During his visit, Mr. Tsipras discussed with workers, train drivers and station masters the conditions under which the tragic accident in Tempi took place, as well as the safety valves that existed until 2019 and which were subsequently either discredited or abolished.
According to an announcement by SYRIZA, it has been confirmed that the Remote Control Center of Larissa, which “saw” the movement of trains from Domoko to Platis – i.e. the site of the accident – and which operated until July 2019, has been completely destroyed and to this day it is out of service.
This is the same Remote Control Center, for which the government, through ministers Gerapetritis and Economou, but also today by the responsible Minister Mr. Karamanlis in the Parliamentary Committee, falsely claims that it was “fully functioning”, attributing the accident solely to human error, it is noted in the same announcement.
After his tour of the Remote Control Center of Larissa, Mr. Tsipras made the following statement to the press representatives:
“Truth and justice are not a party’s goal. It is a demand of Greek society. And first of all those who lost their own people in such a tragic and unexpected way.
The government is trying to cover up its responsibilities with lies. 57 wronged lives, however, demand answers. Why is the remote control station of Larissa, which was put out of operation in July 2019 after a fire, never restored, never worked again, and is today this yippie?
If it had worked, the fatal accident would not have happened.
Why for 20 days now, the responsible voices of the government have been lying that everything was supposedly working normally? The truth must come out. It is the responsibility of all of us to bring it to light.
Covering up the truth is an insult to the people who lost their lives unjustly. And it burdens the Mitsotakis government just as significantly as its responsibilities for abandoning every safety valve of the railway network, which led to the tragedy of Tempi”.
