Specifically, the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, ahead of the March 23 and 24 Summit, after the telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, today he contacted both Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

According to a statement by the Italian Presidency of the Government, the focus of the talks was “the priority of a full support of the European Council in Ukraine, in a radius of 360 degrees, a rapid implementation of the decisions of the EU Summit last February, with the aim of a European, finally , management of migration flows, European solutions for the competitiveness of the economies of Epirus, with the use of the appropriate EU tools”.

At the same time, the announcement of the Italian government adds that “with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, it was decided to further deepen the already close bilateral relations”, while with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the Italian Prime Minister shared “the immediate need to develop action, at the European level, with regard to immigration, as the President of the Commission underlined, in the letter she addressed, yesterday , to the European leaders. A letter that is in line with the priorities set by Italy, on the same subject”.
