According to the Prime Minister, the Development Program of Epirus for 2030 aims to make the region “a real protagonist, not only in Development, but also in social cohesion, in the protection of the Environment and in the quality of life”.
The Development Program of Epirus for 2030, aims to highlight the area “in a real protagonist, not only in Development, but also in social cohesion, in the protection of the Environment and in the quality of life”the Prime Minister emphasized Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his speech at the presentation of the program prepared jointly with the Government, the Region and Local Government.
As he pointed out, this is the road map to Development, a joint action plan that describes the road, “in order to make Epirus from a laggard in Development and a number of other indicators, a real protagonist.”
Is 9th presentation of Regional Development Plan being made, the Prime Minister mentioned and noted how “all have one thing in common, they constitute a coherent plan, which has secured resources, specific implementers, implementation schedules. And this, I think, separates the effort we have made from other attempts to draw up regional plans in the past” expressing the belief that these attempts were made for communicative and not substantive reasons.
“The plan commits all government and self-government to be consistent, to complete and deliver projects that are in progress, such as road interventions to villages and other actions indicated by the Region and integrated into the Plan.”
Kyriakos Mitsotakis focused on works of special importance. Referring to road infrastructure he emphasized that Epirus is the big beneficiary of 3 road axes, which bring it out of isolation.
“Egnatia, a road that comes from the past, was a vision of Konstantinos Mitsotakis, the Ionian Road and the E65, which when completed will be an important road for Epirus, Western Macedonia, Thessaly, and Attica as well. The Gordian link for the Ioannina-Kakkavia road has been resolved” said the Prime Minister, among others.
Regarding the port of Igoumenitsa Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized its enormous development importance, the procedure for the concession of the port has essentially been completed, there is a contractor, only the formal sanction of the contract remains and he clarified:
“When we talk about privatization, as some perceive it, we are essentially talking about a long-term lease, the port and the infrastructure still belong to the Greek State, a private person comes and leases it for 40 years, undertakes specific investment commitments, which will come to press on the very important interventions we have already made. At the same time, in full consultation with the Municipality, we also grant uses that have nothing to do with purely port activities to the local community, so that the port of Igoumenitsa can fully unfold its development potential.”
Mr. Mitsotakis also referred to the support for all issues concerning the Primary Sector and added: “We have the obligation to preserve the quality of our products, to ensure the feta which is the export flagship, just as we have systems of illegal milk imports, so we have systems of tracing the quality of the product.”
