“The question is, are we going to keep going forward or are we going to roll back”
“It is our duty to stand by the citizens who are being tested by the imported precision” Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized in an interview he is giving this hour.
Among other things, the prime minister noted:
“Each pre-election period has a special interest. It is an extremely critical ballot box and the dilemmas will be clearly articulated. The key question is whether we will continue to move forward or turn back. We are at a time when society is facing difficulties from imported accuracy. It is the first thing that concerns the Greeks. Our duty, if the world trusts us again, is to support them.”
“Citizens choose not only a party but also a prime minister and that is why PASOK’s position on the unknown X created confusion,” the prime minister emphasized and added that “I like to compare myself, to set the bar high and to make the my self-criticism.
I had the honor of being prime minister for 4 years and Mr. Tsipras was also four years before me. Citizens can judge and compare what we achieved and what Mr. Tsipras achieved.”
“I would like the vote for me and for the party I lead to be a positive vote. I am proud of the fact that although we faced several crises, we were consistent in our basic pre-election commitments. We attracted investment, we created jobs, we raised the minimum wage, we fortified our borders. I’m not saying I didn’t make mistakes.”
Speaking about his interview with a well-known YouTuber he said that “I wanted to be exposed to the questions of a young person” noting that his daughter is 25 years old. He also said that he listens to his children a lot, giving the example of his young daughter who is very involved in public health issues and brought up the topic of menopause.
“It’s not a license issue, it’s that they have additional costs that we don’t have, shouldn’t we be dealing with that? Spain has taken interesting steps in this and I think we will soon be able to make announcements about this as well.”
About his TikTok posts, he said he doesn’t have the app on his phone and has banned cabinet members from having it but “that doesn’t mean I can’t use it. It has a great appeal to young people, I can speak directly about important issues with it. We have to use the channels that young people use.”
Regarding the criticism he received from his children regarding the tragedy in Tempi, he replied “this tragedy was very difficult. I feel very heavily responsible for this. I take my responsibility. The system had to be ready in its entirety. There is one question in everyone’s mind: Why did it happen? And my children, they say to me ‘what are you going to do so that it doesn’t happen again?’. One cannot enter a means of transport and feel insecure.”
On whether he cried over the tragedy: “I felt pressure and privately I might have cried over Tempi. I can express my feelings but I have to manage the crisis the next day. From Evros to the pandemic, I had to manage the emotional charge in a creative way” added Mr. Mitsotakis.
