A historic step by Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who yesterday, with a video-manifesto, called on young people to vote for him and bring change to the country and its way of functioning.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbulthe video in about 12 hours, has been seen by more than 10 million Turks.

“I am an Alevi and I want to bring change to Turkey, to uproot the old system,” Kilicdaroglu said, among other things:

“My dear children, in these elections you will be voting for the first time. I am an Alevi. I am a true Muslim who grew up believing in justice. I have a soul given to me by God and I will not violate the right of man.

We have a turning point ahead of us and we need you, new voter, at this. With one vote of yours, you will take Turkey out of the sectarian debates that cause pain, from the Middle East that has turned into mud. You will take Turkey where it deserves. From now on we will not talk about people’s identity but about successes. From now on we will not talk about the differences and discords but instead we will talk about our commonalities and our common dreams.

Will you join this campaign of change? Will you stand by me through this change? In this system that says ‘An Alevi can’t’, you will be able to say that the right, the moral, the honest and the right thing can be done. Will you reach out? Are you ready to root out this divisive system for good? Come, young people, let’s overcome this turning point together. I believe that with one vote we will overcome it and I trust you. Dear young people, I kiss your eyes.”

Erdogan does not listen to the problems of his people

At the same time, Tayyip Erdogan claims that “the economy is doing well. We did not go bankrupt” and emphasizes that “with the Turkish economic model, we will be an example to the world”:

Characteristically, in his interview, the Turkish president noted: “They say we should raise interest rates. No, we won’t do that. We will lower interest rates. What happened we went bankrupt? No! Inflation is slowly falling. Ok today inflation is not at good levels but it was at higher levels. But it is decreasing and will continue. Because our goal is not low interest rates and high inflation, but rather low interest rates and high investment.
Everyone in the world is talking about an economic model and we are talking about the Turkish model and we will become an example to the world.”

The US is pressuring Turkey for Sweden as well

Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defense James Osti calls on Turkey to ratify Sweden’s NATO membership as soon as possible:

The TV network Haber Global broadcast the statement of James Osti as follows: “US Secretary of Defense James Osti announced that he wants Sweden to join NATO before next July. Austin said it was important for Turkey to make a quick decision.
Austin emphasized that Turkey, as a member of NATO, must have modern defense means. The American minister said that he cannot predict when Turkey will decide on Sweden’s accession to NATO. But he stressed that “it is important that they make the decision soon”.
