With Solz, we emphasized the need for the cooperation of progressive forces in each country, said the president of SYRIZA after his meeting with the German chancellor
With the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Solz the President of SYRIZA met today in Berlin Alexis Tsipras. After the meeting, Mr. Tsipras made the following statement to the press representatives:
“I had the opportunity to chat today with Chancellor Soltz about the economic and geopolitical developments in Europe and the world.
I had the opportunity to present my plan for a progressive government in Greece that will take on the difficult task of rebuilding the economy and supporting society. Which will bring back to Greece the rules of the rule of law and will leave behind the clientelistic practices of corruption and nepotism. A plan aimed at reducing inequalities, a plan aimed at supporting the real economy, regulating private debt, targeted foreign investment in order to deal with the huge current account deficit, but also the redistribution of the Recovery Fund resources so that to include small and medium enterprises, as well as, of course, the support of the social state and especially the National Health System.
At the same time, I had the opportunity to present to him our positions on foreign policy. The need for Greece to once again become a pillar of peace and stability in the region. And of course let’s proceed with a new Euro-Turkish agenda, which will also include the Greek-Turkish positive agenda with clear, however, red lines and the prospect of resolving our differences in The Hague.
Finally, we had the opportunity to chat about European developments and we emphasized the need for the cooperation of the progressive forces in each country separately as well as in the European Parliament, especially at a time when the right is cooperating with the extreme right in a number of countries and this is a major threat to Europe.
I believe that the progressive forces can give a way out and the elections before us in Greece are such a battle, between progress and maintenance. And the change that will come to Greece will be an important development for all of Europe.”
