The stake of the ballot box was raised by the president of PASOK in his speech in New Philadelphia. Nikos Androulakis and called on the Greek people “to take a brave decision of Change, so that the country can turn the page and move into an era of social justice and national dignity”.

“Against us we have a strong system of elitism and a strong system of populism. And the duty of the Democratic Party is to consign these two systems of power, which despise the public interest and the Greek people, to history’s closet. The strength of PASOK is the people, who want brave changes, who want conflicts. I personally pledge that we will clash with any interest that undermines the perspective and future of the Greek people. I am sure that on May 21 with the announcement of the results, the PASOK will be on the side of the winners while SYRIZA and New Democracy are humiliated on the side of the losers. The Greek people are tired of the big, empty words. He wants a plan and actions” added Mr. Androulakis.

“The more they hit PASOK, the stronger it will become. They are under the impression that we will play the game of toxicity and division. Our political ethos, our consistency and our principles are the compass in the struggle, which we will give for a better page to come for the Greek people. We do not enter the game of polarization and division, invested by Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Mitsotakis, with the online gangs that have built an online parastate and the communication arms, that at every opportunity try to block the new course of the Democratic Party ” said the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, pointing out the need to highlight the programs and solutions to citizens’ problems.

“Let’s talk programmatically. What does each party propose for the economy, the welfare state, investments, the creation of new jobs. We see fake conflicts all the time. At one point they are fighting about the Evros fence, not about whether it exists or not, but about who will pay for it. European taxpayers or Greek taxpayers? On the other, they fight over bad loans. Who; Mr. Tsipras, who promised peace in the period 2012-2014 and as Prime Minister in 2015 handed over the bad loans of the Greek people to the speculators of the funds and Mr. Mitsotakis, who completely eliminated the protection of the first residence”.

He gave special emphasis to the regeneration of the NSS. “We want PASOK’s dowry, the National Health System, to be regenerated to reduce inequalities. That is why we are saying that 8% of the resources of the Recovery Fund should be directed there,” he pointed out.

Referring to the energy transition, he underlined that “it should not become a business in the hands of five big businessmen” but on the contrary it is requested to shield the poorest social strata through the creation of energy communities.
Finally, he reiterated the proposals of PASOK-Movement for Change on private debt and the protection of the first home, as well as the creation of a pool of 150,000 homes, either newly built through the Recovery Fund or reconstructed by providing tax incentives to their owners, which will be provided at cheap rent in young couples and students.
