The post of the Prime Minister on the occasion of May Day
In a video on Tik Tok, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis refers to 10 pro-worker policies implemented by the ND government, on the occasion of today’s Labor Day celebration, and wishes everyone a good month and a happy May Day.
“There is a rumor that pro-Labor policies are only left-wing policies. I’m here to refute it” states the prime minister and refers to the government’s policies.
“First, we introduced the digital job card to protect workers from unpaid overtime and insecure work.
Second, we upgraded the labor inspection to an independent authority, with digital checks and cross-checks to find those employers who do not declare their workers.
Third, we made unemployment benefit a work benefit for faster reintegration into the labor market.
Fourth, we are investing over €1 billion in training programs for 700,000 young workers and unemployed people to acquire modern skills.
Fifth, we established an ethics framework and strict sanctions for sexual harassment and bullying in the labor market.
Sixth, we extend parental and maternity leave to female freelancers. We granted paternity leave for the first time and protect the new father from dismissal.
Seventh, we established the right to telecommute and disconnect
Eighth, we gave union rights to platform workers and additional rights to couriers and delivery food distributors
Firstly, we have equalized the severance pay for craftsmen with the rest of the workers.
And tenth, we increased the minimum wage by 20%, from 650 to 780 euros!
