Petsas-SKAI 100.3: Involvement of municipalities in testing is examined to reduce queues

The government is planning the involvement of the local government in the testing in order to reduce the queues, as it stated in SKAI 100.3 and to Pavlos Tsimas the Deputy Minister of Interior Stelios Petsas.

He said that the issue was discussed in today’s communication with the leadership of the Ministry of Health.

He left open the possibility of extending and not imposing from January 16 the imposition of the fine for citizens over 60 years who remain unvaccinated.

As he stated, if we see that the citizens of this age category are in a hurry to be vaccinated, maybe we will give more time.

He explained that all the measures will be seen by the experts this week, as they expire on Sunday.

The Deputy Minister estimated that the first quarter of the year will be the most difficult.

Citing the latest data, he said that we are on the right track as there are no patients with the Omicron mutation in the ICU

He also said that the government has chosen open schools but with protection and added that the opposition is trying to say that something different should have been done to the schools.

If the opposition wants closed schools to say so, Mr. Petsas stated characteristically.
