The President of PASOK-Movement for Change toured Nice this morning, Nikos Androulakis.
“We saw Mr. Mitsotakis making tactics regarding Golden Dawn. For three years, while they were convicted for the murders of Pavlos Fyssas and other people, Mr. Mitsotakis let them campaign and broadcast from prison. Why did he lose weight? Because Mr. Mitsotakis did not have a valuable and stable attitude like us. He had a scale and he saw: When the Kasidiaris party was below 3% in the polls, he said “let them go down” because the larger the balance in the elections, the easier independence for him. Then when he found that they exceeded 3%, he thought “if they go over 3% it will be harder for me to be self-sufficient”. On the other hand, what does SYRIZA and Mr. Varoufakis have to say? On the other hand, Mr. Varoufakis boldly stated that “it was good that they did not exist, but since they exist, let them go to the elections”. Mr. Tsipras did not support the effort of Mr. Alivizatos in order to have a common position on the issue of neo-Nazism. He is fishing in murky waters, if only to get some votes from the neo-Nazis. Unfortunately, this is not left. This is a party only for power. That’s why he included Karamanlis’ right-hand man, Mr. Antonaros, and the “orphans” of the Independent Greeks on his ballots,” he commented on the Kasidiaris party.
“PASOK does not have any new democrats on its ballots. Neither Samaras nor Karamanlis nor Mitsotakis. Look for new democrats on the ballots of Mr. Tsipras, who is capable of anything, as long as he gets a larger percentage,” said Mr. Androulakis, referring to the composition of the SYRIZA ballots.
The President of PASOK-Movement of Change referred to the increased cost of living for citizens and made special reference to the high housing costs paid by Greeks.
“The prices – of land and houses – are so high that very few can take the loans promised by Mr. Mitsotakis. Why do we oppose low rent? So that there is competition and not only 150,000 families benefit from social housing, but more citizens as the competition will reduce rent prices” he emphasized regarding the New Democracy’s “Spiti My” program.
“The OECD data do not lie, as Mr. Mitsotakis said yesterday,” noted Mr. Androulakis regarding New Democracy’s disputing of the OECD report on the reduction of the average real wage in 2022.
“The OECD points out that Greece is third in private health expenditure in Europe. What do we have to do; Let us be the first in private spending when we have an aging population with enormous needs? The health system, founded by PASOK with Giorgos Gennimatas and Paraskeias Avgerinos, must be reborn and this is our duty. The Recovery Fund is not money of the Greek people, it is money given by the Europeans for the pandemic. Do you know what percentage New Democracy uses from this Health Fund? 2% is the actual rate. It approaches 4% including the energy upgrade of hospital buildings. We counter-propose 8-10% of the resources of the Recovery Fund to be directed to health, to cover the National Health Service with permanent positions of doctors and health workers, to create a strong primary health network that is lacking throughout Greece, to include the heavy and unhealthy health workers” noted Mr. Androulakis.
He made an extensive reference to the Greek-Turkish language, stressing: “Just before the Turkish elections, we see spots from Erdogan where they “red” western Thrace and the islands of the northeastern Aegean. Provocative statements by Kilicdaroglu. But also statements by Greek politicians that raise big questions. Does Mr. Tsipras have a duty to tell us what he meant when he said after his meeting with Chancellor Soltz that if there is leadership in Turkey, he will attempt the “Aegean Prespes”? These statements need explanation from Mr. Tsipras. Because if he considers the Prespa Agreement a success, where the country is called North Macedonia but the language of the neighboring people is Macedonian and the Macedonians themselves, then we should probably be very careful what we vote for on May 21st so that we don’t live the same in the Aegean ».
“As long as Turkey threatens the sovereign rights of Greece and Cyprus, it is unacceptable for the Germans and the Spanish to sell even one bullet to Turkey, giving courage to Erdogan. And that is precisely why I believe that the arms embargo in Turkey should be a priority of our foreign policy, as long as Turkey continues its strategy of instability” concluded the President of PASOK-Movement for Change.
