“Now is the time to decisively support and strengthen the KKE! In the May 21 election, we can terrorize those who terrorize us. To make useless their dilemmas and blackmails. Let’s think and choose this time based on our own interests, our own anxieties and our own needs” underlined the head of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, in his speech this evening in Egaleo.
He said that the workers, the people and the youth “have nothing substantial to expect from whatever government is formed, among the parties that have ruled until now, ND, SYRIZA and PASOK and from their various willing partners”, pointing out that the “fine” print of the pre-election programs of ND and SYRIZA and the other parties reflect the strategic convergences that will determine the program of the next anti-popular government.
“Any pre-election declarations are just a mockery, as it has been proven in the past” he noted and called on the people “not to waste their time looking for minor differences which, yes, exist, but in no way change the situation experienced by the common people”. .
“The only anxiety that all of you should have, which we also have, is how high, how much stronger the KKE will be. Because they know that they will be beaten, not by 15, but by 30 or more MPs. Because this will make the people’s claims even stronger,” he stressed.
Referring to the support requested by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, “saying that ‘we must not risk our conquests, discount our claims'”, he said that these four years “conquests are counted by the monopolies and not by the people”.
“When they talk about conquests, they are talking about all that they offer with their laws to the industrialists, the shipowners, the bankers, all the exploiters in order to increase their profits. And when they talk about claims, they are again talking about their own demands that they plan to implement,” he said.
He underlined that the “working jungle” and the conditions that crush the working-people’s social rights and modern popular needs were formed “one after the other by the parties of capital”.
“Profits and privileges for capital are not compatible with the needs and rights of workers, of the people,” he said, stressing that “the only way for our people to really get rid of all of them, in whatever guise they appear, is to get rid of their policy, from the interests they serve, is the Power and Governance Program proposed by the KKE”.
Referring to SYRIZA, D. Koutsoubas reviewed the events from the May 2012 elections, and SYRIZA’s proposals to the KKE at that time for governmental cooperation and emphasized that the KKE knew from its analysis and from historical experience that “no government on the soil of capitalism, regardless of even intentions, can pursue a policy that goes against the general interests of the exploiters. “We know the outcome. The policy they pursued from 2015 to 2019 was the absolute justification of the policy pursued by the ND and PASOK governments in all the previous years. He said that there is no way for the KKE to “put their hands up and pull out their own and the people’s eyes” and emphasized that “the blackmail they are directing is not towards the KKE in general, it is, in fact, blackmail towards the people, blackmail to all those who took them for granted and are thinking of abandoning them. He called on the people to close their ears to blackmail and to take the big step at the ballot box by voting for the KKE.
D. Koutsoubas referred to the great struggles fought by the KKE throughout the years from 2012 to today, and pointed out that all these battles show that “only the people save the people with a much stronger KKE”.
He underlined, among other things, that “the solution for a real increase in wages lies in the proposal of the KKE, which can only be imposed by the labor movement through its struggle and with a much stronger KKE”.
He spoke about the more than decade-long battle to isolate fascist, Nazi groups and gangs and added:
“We all rejoiced in October 2020 when we were at that historic rally outside the Court of Appeal and heard the court ruling that branded them for what they really are: a Nazi criminal organization that only belongs in prison!
We did not, however, and we never nurtured illusions that we got rid of Nazism or that we can ever get rid of it for good, as long as the exploitative system of capitalism remains, which gives birth to and nurtures them.
We called for vigilance and we are doing the same now,” he noted.
“We responsibly say to the people, to the workers, that we are very concerned about the dangerous game that various people have been playing lately,” he said.
He noted that “we could not even be discussing this issue, if the trial that has been dragging on for 8 years now, with huge responsibilities of both the previous SYRIZA government and the current ND government, had been finalised” and then emphasized:
“Now we are watching an election game about who will fish better in the dirty waters of the far right and fascism.
Either with the ND’s attempt to attack parties that cut votes for it, or with SYRIZA taking them under its protection.
Either with Mitsotakis making a pre-election show from the fence of Evros addressing this audience, or with Tsipras having fun with far-rights like the other day in Menidi and adopting the anti-communism of the bourgeois staffs and Nazi propaganda for the Soviet Union.
The well-known and unexceptional Varoufakis, who informed us that “anyone who feels anger and has no other way to express it, belongs to fascism”.
These are unacceptable and dangerous views that must meet with the unanimous condemnation of all democratic people.”

Calling for a decisive reinforcement of the KKE, the head of the KKE concluded his speech:
