The head of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, in his tonight’s interview with “Action 24”, when asked about A. Tsipras’ repeatedly repeated proposal for cooperation with the KKE, he replied that “Mr. Tsipras knows the answers. It is not addressed to the KKE, but to its voters because it has been squeezed. He knows that a people who lived through the four years of his government, have drawn conclusions, distanced themselves from SYRIZA and approached the KKE”.

D. Koutsoubas reminded that former SYRIZA officials and candidates for parliament, “are now candidates of the KKE”, while he emphasized how “there are many more people who have supported the KKE over the years, in the struggles, in the unions, the associations, in the mobilizations and sees in the KKE the consistency, honesty, stability and that it expresses the modern, so that the youth can smile a little, the people can smile, another path can be opened for radical changes”.

“That’s what worries him and that’s why he’s doing such “friendship attacks” even though he’s got the answer. We have said clearly, and we have repeatedly told the people to make it a criterion for voting on May 21st, that we are not going to support or tolerate for a single day any anti-popular government that emerges from these elections,” he stressed.

As he said, “baskets and passes are not a pro-popular government program”, while for him SYRIZA pointed out that “he does not talk about Health and Education, the country’s military involvement in Ukraine and the imperialist organizations, it does not say about the 350 immediate prerequisites of the Recovery Fund that the Greek people will pay again with 350 anti-popular laws”.

As he characteristically stated, “whoever says he agrees with fiscal balancing means that even if he gives a small increase in wages, he will cut it somewhere else, from benefits or through an increase in taxes on the people.”

“On the contrary, progress,” he said, “is to abolish the energy exchange, to exploit all available energy sources.”

Regarding investments and development, he said that “it is not possible for both capital and the people to win. Because the prerequisites of the Recovery Fund, where it will give hot money to the big business groups, will be paid by the people again.”

He also gave the example of tourism “where the situation of workers is constantly getting worse, despite huge investments and huge profits”.

“Well,” he pointed out, “growth and investment are class-based and do not benefit workers. That is why we say the main problem is who owns the property. If the property is owned by big capital, whether it is domestic – Greek – or foreign capital, it does not solve issues for the benefit of the workers. The worker has nothing to gain.”

He emphasized, among other things, that “today there are technological, scientific possibilities, there are possibilities to secure the 5-day, 7-hour, 35-hour week, to find jobs if they want, to have satisfactory wages so that the other can live decently for the family of”.

Regarding the progress of the Greek-Turkish people, he said, among other things, that “the Turkish bourgeoisie, with whichever party is first, with whichever prime minister, always has continuity in its foreign policy. Well, the issues of the “blue homeland”, the issues of Greece’s sovereign rights disputes, the issue of what will be included in the famous co-pledge that we will go to The Hague, which Turkey does not recognize and wants a co-pledge and the whole package and what it will contain”.

“What the other parties are not telling us, neither the current government nor the official opposition that is asking us to go to The Hague, is what it will contain. We clearly say that we are concerned, that it will contain painful terms for Greek interests, for the sovereign rights of our people and unacceptable concessions”, he underlined.

He did not rule out the possibility of a heated episode that “functions as the other side of the coin of the negotiations that have already begun and have even begun under a Euro-Atlantic umbrella to wrest Turkey from Russia’s hands.”

“So all the issues are open and one will prepare the other. The heated episode will take place, so that we can forcefully sit down in the negotiations when there will be some data. That’s how it always happens. And of course NATO has said it, the US has said it. It started since then with “No troops no ships no flags”, no troops no fleets no flags and we arrived here in the “blue homeland” in the graying of the entire Aegean and this story unfortunately continues” he added.

Regarding the youth, D. Koutsoubas noted, among other things, that the KKE tells young people “to think that they cannot buy their vote, they cannot buy the present or especially their future, with a pass of mockery that it offers them a government or another party that wants to be the government tomorrow.”

It highlighted the enormity of the housing problem, where many young people cannot find a home, start a family. He emphasized the need to reconstitute the Labor Housing Organization, with a scientific state construction program so that young people can have cheap housing.

Regarding yesterday’s debate, he said that “he always has an interest, but the frameworks and time that one can develop his views are suffocating so that the TV viewer has a clearer understanding of what each party stands for, which does not help and the manner of the conversation, these parallel monologues, although somehow one answered the other, there was an attempt to intervene.

The KKE said it proposes to the inter-party debate that there should be a freer discussion, that one can ask a question to the other, and we think that the other parties who refused should also dare to do so.”
