The government representative, Akis Skertsos, was asked about the closing of every cooperation window with PASOK, who spoke on the show “Today” with Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos.

“Things have come to this point mainly because of PASOK’s attitude. SYRIZA is being monitored to a large extent, Mr. Androulakis is turning this space towards SYRIZA. He took such a vertical position that he cannot cooperate with the leader of the first party, a very clear red line is drawn,” said Mr. Skertsos.

He noted that from the beginning the position of the New Democracy is in favor of self-reliance, saying that in the previous years there were difficult crises, which the self-reliance government dealt with very adequately.

“It’s not just a matter of getting the beans out. The country cannot stand a fragile government, which will be the brainchild of a few MPs. We want self-reliance, it is not a question of arrogance or personal ambition of Mr. Mitsotakis, it is the country’s need for a stable government”.

He continued the attack against Tsipras and Androulakis saying that “we have a ballot box that under certain conditions can produce a government of losers. Mr. Tsipras is unreliable, and unfortunately so is Mr. Androulakis. Mr. Tsipras can even work with the devil. If given the chance, they could form a government of losers, that should be weighed by the citizens.”

He reiterated that the prime minister has challenged Mr. Androulakis for meetings in which convergence discussions could take place.

“However, with a government partner, PASOK, we will hit the brakes instead of the gas,” he said characteristically.

Asked about the wiretapping, he said that it is a very serious matter, the discussion took place at length and at the moment the case is in the hands of justice and no party can make the judge. We have to let justice do its job.”

When asked if the EYP will continue to be under the responsibility of the prime minister, in case Kyriakos Mitsotakis is re-elected, he answered: “Yes, the EYP will be under the auspices of the prime minister, this will not change, but with the new filters we put in place. We took many steps that should have been appreciated.”

With reference to the arrest of Fredis Beleris, he commented that it is a very unpleasant development and that the Greek government has made great strides at all levels. “If Albania wants to have a future in Europe, it cannot adopt such practices. We will exhaust every means of pressure through the EU as well.”
