Optimism and dynamism prevails in Harilaou Trikoupis, said the PASOK-Change Movement press representative, Dimitris Manzosspeaking Tuesday morning on his “Today” show with Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos.

Referring to the election result, Mr. Manzos emphasized that “we are looking ahead, towards the need for the country to finally acquire a strong, genuine, progressive programmatic opposition, an alternative positive proposal structured on realistic governance terms”.

At the same time, he reiterated the main axes of the PASOK-Movement for Change program for “a fair tax system that will support a strong welfare state, public health system, high-quality public education, social security, regulation of the labor market, sustainable and fair development and a strong rule of law with strong institutions, with accountability and transparency in the state”.

“All this requires reliability and consistency. They are two virtues, which were missing from the official opposition in previous years”, noted D. Manzos and continued:

“We address a positive and optimistic call to all democratic progressive citizens, to build the Truth Movement together again, in PASOK-Movement of Change. Our call is not to other political forces, but to the citizens. They are called to stand up, take responsibility in their own hands and create the conditions for the Greece of the future, strengthening a genuine progressive alternative for the governance of the country”.

Regarding SYRIZA, Dimitris Manzos noted: “I very personally read a statement, which said neither more nor less that others are to blame. They could, instead of so many words, be content with the few words that Mr. George Tsipras used in one of his posts, talking about a disapproval of the playground. It’s exactly what we were saying before the elections: the unarmed policies, the incoherences, the blurring of strategic targeting, adventurism as a political compass. These are what characterized SYRIZA”.

The goal of PASOK-Movement of Change remains, according to Dimitris Manzos, “the change of political paradigm through an optimistic, positive, reforming program for a genuine progressive alternative in our homeland. This is our mission: on the way to the next polls to open our invitation even more to all democratic citizens for a strong PASOK – Movement for Change, a strong Democratic Party”.

Finally, responding to Theodoros Dritsa who appeared on behalf of SYRIZA on the television show, and who had spoken about the arrogance of PASOK – Movement for Change, D. Manzos characteristically noted: “Did you hear arrogance from us? You kept up, as “golden” sponsors, a government characterized by opacity, favoritism and insults to the rule of law. You didn’t take even the slightest responsibility and you blame it on PASOK? You told us we bankrupted the country, now you’re telling us we painted it blue too? What else will this PASOK do now?”
