The cycle of exploratory orders is closed – The way is opened for the appointment of a caretaker prime minister and a caretaker government so that the country can go to elections on June 25
The cycle of exploratory orders to the parties by the President of the Republic closed a while ago Katerina Sakellaropoulou, without, as expected, a governmental solution or even an attempt at a governmental solution emerging.
The president of PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakisthe third political leader in a row, returned the exploratory mandate he received, according to the Constitution, to Mrs. Sakellaropoulou immediately, without using it, after all, this had been hinted at very early on, before he even arrived at the Presidential Palace.
“I am returning the order I received, as there is no scope for governmental convergences on the basis of programmatic agreements” emphasized the President of PASOK-KINAL in his brief discussion with Mrs. Sakellaropoulou, thus closing the process of investigative orders and paving the way for the holding of elections on June 25.
The next move by Mrs. Sakellaropoulou is to convene a council of political leaders, which, according to the information so far, will be held by phone. As soon as the impossibility of forming a government is formally established, an interim prime minister will be sworn in – on Thursday – and an interim cabinet – on Friday. On Sunday, the new parliament that emerged from last Sunday’s elections will be sworn in, and on Monday the presidential decree for its dissolution will be published, so that elections for June 25 can be called.
