The procedures for the formation of the caretaker government are proceeding at a fast pace, after the formation order to the John Sharma by the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

The new -caretaker- government will be sworn in on Friday and tomorrow at 16:00 the new caretaker prime minister will be sworn in. The caretaker government will be tasked with leading the country to the June 25 election, a date that was finalized at a council of party leaders held on Wednesday morning.

The names heard for the key ministries are as follows:

Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The ambassador e.t. Vasilis Kaskarelis

Ministry of Defense: The ambassador e.t. Pavlos Apostolidis or the ambassador e.t. Dimitris Paraskevopoulos

Ministry of Health: The professor of pulmonology and intensive care of EKPA, Anastasia Kottanidou.

Ministry of Education: The former rector of EKPA Christos Kittas, who had served as a Health official, in 2012

Ministry of Citizen Protection: The late general, ex-chief of the General Staff, Lalousis Charalambos

The timetable until the new elections

Acting Prime Minister Ioannis Sarmas will be sworn in on Thursday, May 25.

On Thursday, May 25, the caretaker government will be appointed by the President of the Republic and on Friday, May 26, it is expected to be sworn in.

Then, next Sunday, May 28 at 18:00, the deputies of the new Parliament will be sworn in.

On Monday, May 29, the swearing-in of the presidium of the Parliament is expected and then during the day the Parliament will be dissolved in order to hold the new elections.

The new elections will be held on June 25.
