The acting Minister of Justice, Filippos Spyropoulos, is an emeritus professor of the Kapodistrian University of Athens.

In particular, 71-year-old Filippos Spyropoulos studied law at the Universities of Athens, London (LSE) and Freiburg, Germany, and is an emeritus professor of Constitutional Law at the School of Law of the Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he served for thirty-eight years, having also served as its dean. In the period 1981-1983 he served in the legal office of the Presidency of the Republic and later secretary general in the Ministry of the Presidency (1989) and in the Ministry of Justice (1990 – 1992) with the late Athanasios Kanellopoulos as Minister of Justice.

He has been a lawyer since 1976 and actively practices law, mainly in the Council of State and in the Administrative Courts and has a rich advisory work.

In 1993 he took over for a short period as president of the National Theater and then became a member of various organizations and institutions.

He has participated in international seminars and conferences and has a rich written work.
