Prime Minister Ioannis Sarmas convened a meeting at the Maximos Palace on the issue of maintaining adequate policing in the context of state continuity. The Minister of State, Vasilios Skouris, the Minister of Citizen Protection, Charalambos Lalousis, and the Chief of Police, Lazaros Mavropoulos, participated in the meeting.

According to the announcement of the press office of the prime minister, the Minister of Citizen Protection presented the whole range of police actions: the challenges of policing in large urban centers and the borders of the territory, the contribution of the police to the implementation of decisions on urban planning violations in tourist destinations and its actions for the safety of visitors.

The police chief referred in particular to the redeployment of the police’s human resources in order to respond to the increased needs of the district, in view of the tourist season.

Special mention was made of the police’s safeguarding of the individual right to freedom of movement – which is violated for people with disabilities, by vehicles parked illegally on sidewalks and crossings.
