From Marousi, where the PASOK-Change Movement president, Nikos Androulakis, was in the afternoon, he commented on the situation of the National Security Service on the occasion of the tragic incident in Kos.
“It is unthinkable that in the year 2023 a woman would lose her life in the back of a truck due to the lack of an ambulance on a large island of our country. We have emphasized many times that the National Health System must be supported. Lack of staff, lack of infrastructure. The European Union created the Recovery Fund with the main priority – due to the pandemic – to support public health”, said Mr. Androulakis and added how “8-10% of the Fund must be given to regenerate the National Health System. Greek citizens cannot pay the third highest private costs for their health in the European Union».

“PASOK’s priority is the regeneration of the National Health System, in order to address the great inequalities and to have a strong state of services for the citizens, the middle class, the weakest. This is the European social model and this is what the democratic faction defends in these difficult conditions that the Greek people are going through“, emphasized Nikos Androulakis.
Regarding the pre-election campaign of PASOK-Movement of Change in Attica, where its percentages are lower than the rest of Greece, Mr. Androulakis mentioned that there is a daily effort everywhere while adding that “the progressive world of our country to support us so that there is a strong reliable opposition in our country. And not to have a government, which has created huge inequalities, discredited the welfare state, starred in very serious scandals and corruption (wiretapping, Patsis case). However, instead of losing power, it gains higher percentages»
He attributed this fact to the inability of SYRIZA to form a credible opposition. “PASOK has a duty to become this reliable progressive opposition, so that New Democracy has a real opponent. The first goal of PASOK is to have a reliable progressive alternative. The rebirth of the democratic faction is to have a progressive home for every Greek woman and every Greek man who has common anxieties with all of us”, stressed Mr. Androulakis.
