Mitsotakis for vaccination over 60: Take the step. Protect your life

“90%, nine out of ten citizens over the age of 60, have now been vaccinated against coronavirus. “I encourage the few of our fellow citizens over 60 who are still unvaccinated today: take the step,” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his visit to the Megara health center, which also operates as a vaccination center for adults and children.

“It is not a question of a fine – yes, the fine will be imposed, but that is the minimum. “Protect your life, the lives of those you love, and understand that the vaccine is safe and saves lives,” he said.

“I want to emphasize that from the moment we imposed the mandatory measure, almost half of those who had not been vaccinated made the choice to be vaccinated. So this measure was successful. And we want, obviously, in the sensitive categories over 60, to increase the vaccination rates even more “, noted Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during a conversation with the employees.

The Prime Minister stressed that vaccination remains an absolute priority, despite the fact that epidemiological data show the prospect of de-escalation.

“We are optimistic, because we see a significant decline in the cases of ‘Omicron’. However, we still have ‘Delta’, which is being released, and until we finally put an end to the pandemic, we will have to insist on the vaccination process. “Either this concerns the booster dose, or it concerns the first dose, or it concerns the vaccines of the children”, he said characteristically.

“All intubation first concerns the ‘Delta’ mutation and in the vast majority the problem still concerns our unvaccinated fellow citizens,” he added.

As for the next day, the prime minister stressed that “the next big challenge” will be “the important reform of primary health care, where we have a lot of work to do and we even have very ambitious plans.” In this project “we want all the working helpers”, he added.

During his visit, Mr. Mitsotakis was accompanied by the Secretary General of Primary Health Care, Mario Themistokleous. Also present during the visit were the commander of the 2nd RAE Christos Roilos and the director of the Health Center, Hellas Karanassiou.

Earlier, the prime minister visited the Megara police station, where he was briefed on crime-fighting actions in the area.

Accompanied by the Minister of Civil Protection, Takis Theodorikakos and the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Michael Karamalakis, the Prime Minister pledged that the decision of the ministry to set up a special office for the prevention and treatment of domestic violence will proceed, which will West Attica. The new office will be added to the five similar structures that have been set up and operate in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis was informed by the AT staff about the recent investigation of 59 cases of burglary by a specific ring and the arrest of 10 people, while it was noted that the municipality’s proposal for the operation of a police station in Kineta is being considered, with the development of a mobile OPKE unit.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the police officers for the sensitivity they have shown regarding the care of stray animals and for their immediate response to incidents of abuse, for which AT Megaron was recently awarded by the animal welfare association of the city “Stray Palmos”.
