The Turkish media report that “Alexandroupoli is being upgraded by the US who want to build a new Souda in its port”
There is concern in the Turkish media about the visit made by the director of the CIA to Alexandroupolis.
As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from IstanbulHurriyet took an article from a local site and made it front page, saying that Alexandroupolis, which is located near Turkey, has been turned into an American town, while they are wondering about the reason for the visit.
Another Turkish newspaper reports that Alexandroupolis is being upgraded and an American base may be created in its port, like in Souda.
The visit of the CIA commander shows that the port of Alexandroupolis replaces the Straits of the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles, reports the television network “Haber Global”:
“The points visited by her commander. CIA is very close to Turkey. Evros forms the border between Greece and Turkey. During the Mitsotakis administration, the construction of a wall to prevent the illegal crossing of immigrants began. There is information that Burns visited the parts of the wall in Feres and Peplos.
At the same time, the port of Alexandroupolis functions de facto as the port of the US base. Essentially the US does all the transfers of NATO weapons systems to the Balkans and Eastern Europe. In other words, Alexandroupolis became the alternative course of the Bosphorus Straits and the Dardanelles. The US aims to expand the port of Alexandroupolis and use it like the Souda base in Crete.”
The devaluation of the Turkish lira continues
Meanwhile, the Turkish lira is also falling again today. At 8:20 am, Turkey’s currency was down 2%, reaching 25.5 pounds to the dollar! Yesterday the pound fell 7.5% and overall in the last week it has fallen by 11%, with financial analysts noting that this crisis will continue.
Turkey next week starts bargaining with Sweden
Meanwhile, Turkey next week begins bargaining with Sweden, which is waiting for Erdogan’s veto to be lifted, on its NATO membership. Ankara’s final goal, however, is the “green light” of Congress for the F-16s, while the Greek-American organization HAALC said “no to F-16s in Turkey as it threatens Greece with war”.
However, Ankara is projecting to the US as a “weapon” the plans to purchase 600 passenger aircraft from Turkish Airlines.
