It is clear that the discussion about his great defeat SYRIZA in the previous polls it will open on June 26. Anything else would be disastrous for the party. Alexis Tsipras has so far managed to avoid introversion and all forces have been mobilized in the battle to change the associations.

The task is particularly difficult with the leader of the official opposition having changed several things. The tragic shipwreck off Pylos may have changed the plan a bit, but in the few remaining days the emphasis on the program will continue. This was evident from the presentations on the economy, health and small and medium entrepreneurship.

The first topic was followed by a press conference always flanked by the financial staff who specialized the positions. Efi Ahtsioglou, Euclid Tsakalotos, Alexis Haritsis and Dionysis Teboneras they now follow the president almost every step of the way and meetings with Giorgos Chouliarakis are almost daily. According to the health theme, they did the analyses Athena Linou and Thanasis Tsagris.

The initiative for the following day in any case belongs to the president himself. A further drop in the percentages will pose new dilemmas and questions for the course of SYRIZA. A rise however – even if not significant – will calm spirits within the party and provide an opportunity for regrouping. In Koumoundourou, they consider it the most likely scenario with the president continuing to “drive the wheel”. According to people close to him, what he needs at such a critical time is “clear time” to think about his next steps. In any case, the Congress in the fall should be taken for granted.

From the answers he gave to “KATHIMERINI TIS KYRIAKI” and to Alexis Papahelas, the former prime minister, it can be concluded that he will find a formula so that in any case all developments take place in normal conditions. To the question of whether SYRIZA can exist without Tsipras, he answered: “Obviously it will exist, but that will be decided by SYRIZA itself – P.S. and in conditions that will allow him to see the next day with optimism. Leaving behind an introverted faction saying “fend for yourself” is too selfish, I can’t do it. I feel an obligation not to.” Alexis Tsipras clarified that what he is saying is that he will not desert. “I will stay to keep the party alive, to guarantee its renewal, its reconstruction. Of course, this does not mean that I will be in this position for life. This means, however, that in its difficult hours I will not leave it, I will not abandon it.”

“Are there dolphins?” Not in the sense that they have appeared in the past in other parties. SYRIZA is a special case, as the Alexis Tsipras he has a fifteen-year career in leadership leading him twice in a row to the Maximos Palace. The truth is that there is no one who can challenge him. There are new faces who could play an important role in the next day, however the political year that starts in September is also special for decisions to be made in the heat of the moment. With local elections in October and European elections a year from now, much thought is needed to plan the next steps.
