Kyriakos Mitsotakis is already preparing the plan for the next day, if the June 25 ballot box confirms the first place recorded by the ND in the May elections and gives independence to the Piraeus Street party. The primary and dominant goal for now and until next Sunday, the 25th of the month, is self-reliance and securing a strong parliamentary majority that will allow the continuation of reforms and changes included in the ND program.

Among the changes, those that are being considered by its president are also included SW to proceed with the organization and structure of the new government. One of them, he announced in an interview, in “thetoc” and concerns the creation in the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs of the position of deputy minister, with responsibility for sports. That is, the Deputy Minister of Sports will be moved as a portfolio from the Ministry of Culture and will go to the Ministry of Education, with an upgraded role.

The structural changes of the government also include the announced creation of an autonomous Ministry of Demographic, Family and Housing Policy, whether it is called the Ministry of Family or Demographic Policy, on the model of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development or the German Ministry of Family Affairs. This is the new Ministry that will “remove” responsibilities from the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurancewhich has the powers in question.

In the context of the discussions for the next day, there are also thoughts about changes in other Ministries, particularly nerve-wracking ones with a “big” portfolio and critical sectors, such as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, for which there are discussions to return to the previous situation, as it was before in 2009, when the then prime minister Giorgos Papandreou renamed it the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks giving it the corresponding powers. Since the ND is re-elected in the upcoming elections, there is a serious possibility that the specific Ministry will be “broken in two” and that two new and separate Ministries will be created, Infrastructure with the responsibilities of the old H.PE.HO.DE and Transport, with the responsibilities of long ago, Ministry of Transport.

At the same time, it is possible to move in the opposite direction, and the creation of a super-ministry Kyriakos Mitsotakisin the case of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Digital Governance, which cannot be ruled out to be united with the aim of all public services becoming digital by 2027.

For now, however, Kyriakos Mitsotakis avoids opening any conversation about the persons in the next day’s renewed structure of the Ministries, even the persons who are trying to extract a news or a promise. The strategy of both the president of the ND and Piraeus has focused on the best possible results of the June 25 ballot, focusing on the remaining week, on the maximum mobilization of the voters who chose the ND and the previous elections in May, and at the same time to improve the image regions across Greece in which the ND came first, but recorded losses in relation to the 2019 national elections. Such areas have also been traditional strongholds of the ND over time, such as Pieria where the ND recorded a 6.36% lower percentage from 2019, Drama with a drop in rates by 4.5%, Evrytania, Kastoria, Serres or Laconia, which Kyriakos Mitsotakis is visiting and will tour tomorrow in Gytheio and Sparta.
