A letter-diabetic to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and to the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Roussopoulos, for the illegal arrest and continued detention of five Greek Cypriots to the occupied territories, today the President of the House of Representatives.
In its letter, the Speaker of the House notes that “the abduction and illegal detention of the five Greek Cypriots, since July 19, has been a deliberate political act of retaliation for the legitimate prosecution of the Republic of Cyprus foreign nationals, who are usurped by Greek Cypriot property”.
“This illegal act of the slave in Turkey illegal in the occupied territories,” says Ms Dimitriou, “constitutes a blatant violation of international law and fundamental human rights and freedoms of the Greek Cypriot displaced, because they wanted to visit their residents.”
Obviously these tactics, Mrs Dimitriou, are intended to terrorize and prevent Greek Cypriots from visiting their possessions and claiming their rights.
Since the property issue is a key component of a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem, in accordance with international and European law and UN resolutions, such actions taking place, while efforts to resume negotiations are undermining its prospects for this president.
These tactics, Mrs Dimitriou, certainly not lead to a climate of trust as the call of the UN Secretary -General, is certainly fully aligned with Ankara’s claim for a “two states” solution and Turkey’s ultimate goal of de Jure.
In conclusion, the Speaker of the Cyprus Parliament notes the transmissions, which the Cypriot government is making at the UN and the European Union level and appeals as the recipients of officials exert their influence on the liberation of the five Greek Cypriots as possible with the former Greek Cypriots.
