Many top executives were in and out of Koumoundourou last night.

Olga Gerovasili, Euclides Tsakalotos, Efi Ahtsioglou, Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, Alekos Flambouraris, Alexis Haritsis, Evangelos Apostolakis were at the party’s offices in order to make a first assessment and see the movements for the next difficult day.

The result was once again not good for him SYRIZA many things have to change.

“Party members will be called upon to judge us all and devise the strategy that meets these difficult circumstances. It goes without saying, that in this creative collective process of reconstruction, I will be the first to put myself in the judgment of the party members” said Alexis Tsipras.

This is how the president routed the procedures in the next period for the renewal of SYRIZA, declaring that he himself remains in the game.

The “milestone” he set is the 2024 European elections in order for the party to reorganize and renew itself in policies and persons.

From Koumoundourou they commented that to a large extent the result had been discounted since May 21.

It was extremely difficult to overturn such a large margin in such a short period of time since there was no electoral victory narrative.

As other sources pointed out, a very worrying sign is the strengthening of the extreme right, which seems to have great influence in the New Parliament. “The way the ND raised the issues during the pre-election period, the toxicity and irresponsibility it showed in the issues of Thrace and the minority, resulted in the strengthening of the darkest forces, the extreme right”, they noted

The aim is for internal party processes to proceed as quickly as possible despite the fact that the local elections that follow, on October 8 and 15 respectively, are binding for a series of parallel and laborious processes, such as the compilation of ballots across the country. It is very likely that there will be opposing proposals, as planning a Conference requires a lot of time and a lot of preparation. The Political Secretariat and the Executive Office are expected to be convened within the week.

With a percentage of 17.83%, that is, almost two points below May and approximately 250,000 fewer votes, the political introspection in Koumoundourou will have to be done in depth in the next period. “Presidential” and “Umbrella” will submit their own opinions on how the party should continue and certainly the tones will rise.

The signal, however, for the developments to run and the party to change, was given by Alexis Tsipras who said last night: “this new situation requires from SYRIZA a correct and sober assessment, democratic vigilance, unity, but also quick decisions on the necessary changes. It requires us to meet again with our values: of collectivity, selflessness and social responsibility”.
