Acting Minister of the Interior, Kalliopi Spanou, delivered the results of yesterday’s elections to the hands of the Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoula.

The parliamentary strength of the eight parties that managed to enter the Parliament is as follows:

  • New Democracy 158 seats,
  • SYRIZA 48 seats,
  • PASOK, 32 seats,
  • KKE 20 seats,
  • Spartans 12 seats,
  • Greek Solution 12 seats,
  • Win 10 seats and
  • Freedom sailing eight seats.

The next step is the briefing of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou by Mr. Tasoula (9:50 am) about the strength of the parties in the Parliament and almost an hour later, at 11 am, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will cross his threshold Presidential Palace in order for Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou to entrust him with the mandate to form a government.

At one in the afternoon, the new Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be sworn in before the President of the Republic.

Afterwards, the Prime Minister will return to the Maximos Palace, where he will receive from the outgoing interim Prime Minister Mr. Ioannis Sharma and is expected to start the “infamous” phone calls to the new Ministers and especially to those who have not yet been appointed, who will form the new Cabinet Council.

In the afternoon, the new government structure is expected to be announced, so on Tuesday the swearing-in will take place and on Wednesday the first Council of Ministers will be convened.
