“Communicative in nature and without actually answering the major problems of the Greek economy and the future challenges”, characterizes the meeting that the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis had at the Ministry of Finance, with the new minister, Kostis Hatzidakis, the Finance Department of PASOK-KINAL.

In his comment, the Finance Department of PASOK notes that “difficult things are ahead” and poses 10 key questions to the government to answer:

• how and on the basis of which data did the Minister of Finance revise upwards the goal for growth in the four-year period with M.O. 3%, when the medium term refers to M.O. 2 6%

• how will he implement the 25% wage increase, when in the medium term they predict 13%

• how it will deal with the extensive tax evasion, which according to the statements of the Governor of T.T.E. but also the elements of the E.E. ranks our country as the champion in the loss of public revenue

• how it will deal with the decrease in incomes, which according to the OECD in 2022 had a loss of 7.4%, mainly due to the lower increases in relation to inflation, but also the non-indexation of the tax scale

• how it will intervene to change the production model, in order to deal with the widening deficit of the balance of goods

• how and if he will negotiate the redirection of the Recovery Fund resources, as PASOK has repeatedly requested

• how it will attract new productive investments, in order to cover the identified investment gap with a large deviation from the EU countries.

• how will he deal with the inflation of profits and the dishonesty of speculators, who increase food prices month by month, but at the same time the revenues of the State

• how it will deal with the ever-widening opening of interest rates, which has put borrowers in a difficult position

• how, in the end, is the increase in public debt by 45 billion and the draining of the resources of the General Government agencies explained.

“We did not expect to hear anything about the reduction of VAT and the abolition of the pretense fee, as we know that they have been implemented based on the announcements of 2019”, concludes the comment of the Finance Department of PASOK-KINAL.
